Beauty Bag Edit

We’ve all had that moment when we are rushing to find that right shade of lipstick in our makeup bag only to end up spending five minutes digging through different products. Makeup bags can get unorganized very fast, especially when you have a busy schedule. As a makeup artist, I am always on the go, going from location to location. Over the years, I found that these tips helped me in maintaining an organized beauty bag for my job and personal life:

Tip #1: TAKE EVERYTHING OUT:

The first order of business: Take everything out. "To set yourself up for success in organizing it's important to begin with a clean palette, meaning every last thing must be removed from the drawers, countertops, makeup bags.... "remembering where everything is” IS KEY!

Tip #2: LAY EVERYTHING OUT + CATEGORIZE

Remove every item you own and group them into categories (foundations, powders, eye color, cheek, skincare, liners, lipstick, lipglosses, etc.)

Tip #3: TOSS

All products have a shelf life and go bad! Go ahead and toss anything that looks old because, ew, bacteria. If you're brave enough, do a smell check.

Check product labeling.

Did you know most beauty products have a symbol in the back of its packaging of its shelf life after opening. (Insert Image)

●      Products like foundation, primer , skincare are good for up to 12 months.

●      Blush, bronzers, powders and eyeshadow can last for up to 1- two years.

●      Lipstick is typically good for one year after you've opened it.

●      Eye makeup like mascara, liquid eyeliner, glosses should be replaced every three months.

Keeping products in dark cool places keep products lasting longer. Products kept in your car, bag, direct heat, humidity go bad quicker and should be tossed out regularly.

Tip #4: BACKSTOCK

Any duplicates or products you NEVER use should be tossed out or donate a beauty box to a women’s shelter. If you like to stock up on favorites, create a “backstock” drawer or bin. Familiarize yourself with your backstock drawer to prevent yourself from buying the same product again.

Tip #5: CLEAN

Now is the time to wipe down beauty products and makeup bags with alcohol wipes. Wipe down powder, pallets, and lipsticks with dry tissue. Check to see if your lip liners and eyebrow pencils need to be sharpened.

Tip #6: CREATE A ORGANIZATION SYSTEM

Invest in clear drawer dividers. I love acrylic storage systems & clear makeup bags/kits so that I can see everything all at once. The ability to see your entire collection and easily access the products without rummaging through the entire assortment is so important.

I love makeup organizers that have adjustable dividers so that I can organize my makeup as my collection grows or shrinks. Choose storage solutions that make sense in your space and ensure that your daily products remain easily accessible. Stackable drawers & bins help with smaller spaces.

One my favorites is the original beauty box acrylic systems: https://www.instagram.com/originalbeautybox/

Beis Cosmetic Bags.

Tip #7: CREATE A MAKEUP KIT FOR HOME, TO GO, AND BACKSTOCK

Now that you have everything organized, you can create smaller makeup bags for your house, when you are on the go, and for your backstock items.
